As history sometimes shows us, it’s easier to recall all the rough spots, one-sided conversations, and negative moments in painful detail, and overlook those moments of growth where something magical or tiny-but-significant happened instead. Finding our way to college and careers should hopefully not be a tragic tale, but instead a story of ups and downs with heroic (true or imagined) feats along the way. What if that path is filled with surprises and not all challenges or difficulties? What if the events along the way can be so powerful that they influence the next five to six decades of your life?
